Why is Microchipping a must?

If you are a pet owner you definitely want to consider micro chipping. I can admit my pet has slipped out of her collar, and of course accidents happen all the time. Microchips are tiny transponders that are about the size of a grain of rice. They can be implanted under your pet’s skin by most veterinarians. They are not GPS devices so they will not track your pet if they become lost but a microchip can be scanned. If your pet becomes lost, having your contact information up to date will be the quickest way for your pet to be returned.

If you move you'll want to be sure your information is updated. Some companies offer the ability to update your information online. You can use the microchip registries website or call them. Be sure to check your pet’s microchip information in their medical records as your veterinarian may have the microchip number listed in the file.

Have no fear, pet microchips are designed to last for the lifetime of your pet, which is usually longer than 25 years. Just be sure to keep your contact information up to date.
