If I had any advice it would be to plan early. Depending on how you plan to travel (car or plane) there maybe extra requirements to complete before heading to your new base. When I moved from Europe I had to get paperwork from the vet a few days prior to the flight clearing our pet to fly. Luckily they squeezed us in for a last minute appointment, I couldn’t imagine leaving our pet behind.

If you find yourself needing to board your pet while in the process of moving I recommend researching any pet sitter or boarding facility before dropping off your pet. Some things to consider are: 1. What is the owner's background? Are they a part of a professional organization? 2. How large are the play areas? 3. Are the facilities clean? 4. What's the ratio of pets per people? 5. Are the other pets required to be spayed or neutered? The more research you do up front will ensure you are comfortable and your pet is well taken care of.
